Department: Agri‑Commodities Trading

Reports To: Trading Manager / Commercial Director
Job Purpose
The Nuts Trader will be responsible for sourcing, trading, and selling edible nuts-such as almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, peanuts, and other tree nuts-across global markets. The role requires strong commercial instincts, risk awareness, and deep knowledge of supply chains, origin markets, and end‑user demand. The trader will drive P&L performance through proactive market engagement, supplier/customer development, and disciplined execution.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Market Execution
- Buy and sell physical edible nuts across target geographies (Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, US depending on portfolio).
- Negotiate purchase and sales contracts, pricing terms, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor market developments including crop conditions, freight, pricing, currency moves, and competitor activity.
- Manage a profitable trading book, including positions, hedging (where applicable), and exposure reporting.
- Execute both spot and forward trades; ensure contracts are fulfilled accurately.
Sourcing & Supplier Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with growers, processors, shellers, exporters, and origin suppliers.
- Identify new origins and strengthen supply channels across key producing regions (e.g., India, Vietnam, Turkey, West Africa, Latin America).
- Conduct regular origin visits when necessary and oversee quality checks.
Sales, Customer Management & Business Development
- Develop and expand a portfolio of industrial users, roasters, packers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and distributors.
- Provide market intelligence, product support, and timely communication to clients.
- Grow market share through active prospecting, cold‑calling, and targeted expansion into new regions or product lines.
Operational Coordination
- Work with logistics, operations, and finance teams to ensure proper execution of contracts, documentation, shipment, and payments.
- Manage claims, rejections, quality issues, and ensure traceability and compliance with client specifications.
- Track inventories, coordinate warehouse releases, and maintain up‑to‑date position reporting.
Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Analyze supply/demand flows, harvest updates, stock reports, and price indicators across global markets.
- Prepare regular internal reports on market trends, risks, and commercial opportunities.
- Use data-driven insights to anticipate market movements and optimize the trading strategy.
