Associate / Senior Associate - Structured Equity & Opportunistic Investments

We are partnered with a leading investment platform seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join its investment team. This role offers a unique opportunity to invest across structured equity, hybrid capital solutions, and opportunistic private equity transactions, providing broad exposure across the capital structure while maintaining a strong focus on equity value creation. The successful candidate will work directly with senior investors, take ownership of live transactions, and play a meaningful role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing complex investments.

What You'll Do

As a key member of the deal team, you will be responsible for evaluating and executing investments from initial screening through closing and portfolio management.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support end-to-end execution of structured equity, junior capital, and opportunistic private equity investments
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models, including LBO, merger, recapitalization, and structured equity analyses
  • Perform comprehensive investment due diligence, including market research, industry analysis, management meetings, and third-party advisor coordination
  • Analyze opportunities across the capital structure with a focus on downside protection, risk-adjusted returns, and equity upside potential
  • Prepare investment committee materials, presentations, and recommendation memos for senior leadership
  • Participate in negotiation processes alongside management teams, lenders, legal advisors, and other transaction participants
  • Monitor portfolio company performance and assist with strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and value creation efforts
  • Synthesize large amounts of qualitative and quantitative information into clear investment recommendations

Investment Strategy Exposure

This position provides exposure to a differentiated investment mandate that combines elements of private equity and structured capital investing, including:

  • Structured equity and hybrid capital solutions
  • Control and non-control private equity transactions
  • Junior capital and opportunistic investments across the capital structure
  • Special situations and complex transaction opportunities
  • Investments across financial services, business services, industrials, and infrastructure-related sectors

Ideal Background

We are interested in candidates with strong analytical capabilities and a demonstrated interest in fundamental investing.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, leveraged finance, capital solutions, M&A, or related investing roles
  • Advanced financial modeling and valuation experience, including LBO and scenario analysis
  • Strong understanding of both credit fundamentals and equity investment frameworks
  • Experience participating in transaction execution and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to senior stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
