Quantitative Researcher (HFT & Options) - 1-4 Years' Experience (London)

I'm currently partnering with a leading global market‑making firm that is expanding across two key areas:
High‑Frequency Trading (HFT) Quantitative Research and Options Quantitative Research.
Both teams are hiring for researchers with 1-4 years of hands‑on experience in quantitative, trading, or data‑driven environments.

These groups work on developing, testing, and refining sophisticated trading models using advanced statistical techniques and large‑scale datasets. You'll collaborate with high‑calibre researchers, quants, and engineers in a fast‑paced, intellectually rigorous environment.

Objectives & Responsibilities (HFT & Options Tracks)

Core Responsibilities (Shared Across Both Roles)

  • -Conduct quantitative research aimed at identifying and developing predictive signals
  • -Analyse large and varied datasets to uncover patterns and market behaviours
  • -Build and refine alpha‑generating models and strategies
  • -Translate research ideas into clean, reliable production code
  • -Backtest and validate signals to ensure robustness in live trading
  • -Enhance research workflows, data pipelines, and overall model quality
  • Skills & Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic & Technical Background
  • Master's or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline
  • Strong foundations in probability, statistics, stochastic processes, and machine learning
Professional Experience (1-4 Years)
  • 1-4 years in a quant research, trading role at a hedge fund, prop trading firm, market maker, or similar
  • Experience converting mathematical ideas into scalable, production‑ready code
  • Exposure to HFT, options or systematic strategies
Programming & Research Skills
  • Strong skills in Python, C++, R, or MATLAB
  • Excellent analytical ability and strong statistical intuition
  • High attention to detail, sound testing frameworks, and strong validation habits
Soft Skills
  • Clear and logical communication of complex technical concepts
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a high‑performance, fast‑paced environment
  • Strong ownership, curiosity, and a mindset of continuous improvement
