Operations Analyst / Senior Analyst (Confidential Japanese Investment Firm - Singapore)
A Singapore‑based investment management firm running a Japan‑focused long/short equity fund is seeking to expand its Operations team.
The fund follows a fundamental, high‑conviction approach, particularly within mid‑ to small‑cap Japanese equities, and manages a high volume of positions.
Given its active trading strategy, the Operations function is essential in ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness across all post‑trade processes.
Role Overview
The Operations Analyst / Senior Analyst will support the fund's daily and monthly operational workflows, working closely with Prime Brokers, the fund administrator, internal stakeholders, and external service providers.
This is a hands‑on role suited for individuals looking to deepen their expertise in buy‑side hedge fund operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily and monthly NAV checks, including PnL validation, management and performance fee reviews.
Execute full trade, position, and cash reconciliations with Prime Brokers and the fund administrator.
Support trade booking and end‑to‑end lifecycle management for Japan‑listed equities.
Coordinate capital activities (subscriptions/redemptions) and investor reporting with the Transfer Agent and Administrator.
Use Python for data extraction, automation, and operational analysis.
Enhance and maintain Excel‑based reconciliation and reporting tools.
Review operational and legal documents in Japanese, summarizing key points for internal stakeholders.
Work with custodians and external vendors to investigate and resolve breaks promptly.
Support ad‑hoc projects to streamline processes and strengthen internal controls.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience in Hedge Fund Operations, Fund Accounting, or other buy‑side operational roles.
Strong understanding of NAV, PnL drivers, reconciliations, and fund flows.
Familiarity with equity trade lifecycle; exposure to Japanese equities is an advantage.
Working knowledge of Python (data analysis, automation, or reconciliation workflows).
High attention to detail, strong ownership, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to read and interpret Japanese documents is preferred.
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
