Head of Accounting

An established financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Accounting to lead its accounting function and manage a team of accounting professionals.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls, and overseeing all month-end and year-end accounting activities. The role offers the opportunity to lead a mature, high-performing team within a stable and well-structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of accountants and senior accountants
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS
• Manage the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
• Act as a key finance business partner to senior stakeholders
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory stakeholders
• Collaborate with shared service centres and wider finance teams
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls
• Support the CFO on accounting, reporting, and compliance matters
• Act as a senior point of contact and provide leadership across the accounting function

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

• Strong financial accounting background
• Proven experience managing accounting teams
• Ownership of month-end and year-end close processes
• Solid understanding of IFRS reporting standards
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience operating within complex organisational structures
• Fluent English language skills

Preferred Experience

• Big Four audit background
• Banking, financial services, or mortgage financing experience is ideal
• Financial reporting leadership experience
• Exposure to shared service centre environments
• Knowledge of financial instruments and regulatory reporting
• Dutch language skills are advantageous
