Role Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly analytical Investment Analyst to join a multi-strategy hedge fund based in Hong Kong. This role is suited for professionals with a strong background in equity research or investment banking who are looking to pivot into an event-driven investment environment. The successful candidate will focus on uncovering and assessing corporate catalysts, such as mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, spin-offs, and other special situations, across Asia, with particular emphasis on China and Japan.

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate event-driven investment opportunities across Asian markets, concentrating on corporate actions and strategic developments.
  • Perform rigorous fundamental and valuation analysis to determine the financial and operational impact of corporate events.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to assess deal structures, pro forma scenarios, and risk/reward dynamics.
  • Monitor ongoing and prospective corporate actions, including mergers, takeovers, and capital restructuring initiatives.
  • Present clear, actionable investment recommendations to portfolio managers and senior team members.
  • Utilize sector expertise to generate differentiated event-driven insights aligned with both systematic and discretionary investment strategies.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes, market trends, and corporate developments within regional markets.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline from a reputable institution.
  • 3-6 years of experience in equity research or investment banking, ideally with exposure to technology or cyclical sectors.
  • Strong grasp of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and corporate finance principles.
  • Demonstrated ability in financial modeling and quantitative analysis with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with corporates and regulatory frameworks in China or Japan.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg; experience with Python, VBA, or similar tools is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing concise, investment-oriented insights.
  • Fluency in English and either Mandarin or Japanese.
  • Highly motivated, intellectually curious, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
