Overview:
A global multi-strategy investment platform is looking to hire an analyst to join its event-driven equities team, with a focus on Equity Capital Markets and corporate catalysts. The team actively participates in a wide range of primary and secondary transactions, including IPOs, follow-ons, block trades, and other opportunistic situations. This role sits at the intersection of fundamental research and trading, offering exposure to both discretionary decision-making and data-driven insights, while working alongside a broader team of investors, quants, and traders.
Role Overview:
The Analyst will be responsible for evaluating and executing investments tied to corporate events, with a particular focus on equity issuance and special situations. The role requires a strong foundation in financial analysis, valuation, and market dynamics, along with the ability to assess complex transactions and communicate insights clearly to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate equity issuance opportunities including IPOs, follow-ons, and block trades
- Conduct detailed fundamental analysis using financial statements, market data, and industry research
- Build and maintain financial models to assess the impact of event-driven catalysts on company performance
- Support investment decision-making through written materials and presentations for internal committees
- Monitor ongoing positions and broader market developments, including regulatory and structural changes
- Partner with traders, fundamental analysts, and quantitative teams to identify and act on opportunities
Qualifications:
- 2-6 years of relevant experience across special situations, ECM, or event-driven investing; buy-side experience is a plus
- Strong grounding in corporate finance, accounting, and valuation methodologies
- Demonstrated experience building financial models in an investment context
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial data platforms
- Ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
