About the Role
A growing employee benefits consulting firm is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Sales Executive to join their large‑group division. This role is focused on fully insured and self‑funded employer groups with 200+ employees. The ideal candidate is a strategic, solutions‑oriented professional who can drive new business while delivering a consultative, high‑touch client experience.
You will lead the full sales cycle-from initial prospecting and plan design strategy to crafting stop‑loss solutions and guiding newly closed groups through implementation. This position offers the opportunity to influence benefit strategy, shape long‑term client relationships, and contribute directly to growth in a high‑performing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business development and manage a personal sales pipeline across fully insured and self‑funded large‑group prospects
- Design comprehensive benefit strategies, including medical, ancillary, and stop‑loss plan structures
- Lead RFP processes, competitive market analyses, and renewal strategy presentations
- Partner closely with underwriting, implementation, and account management teams to ensure smooth onboarding
- Participate in implementation calls and coordinate benefits setup for new clients
- Maintain deep knowledge of compliance requirements, Health & Welfare regulations, and emerging industry trends
- Cultivate relationships with carriers, vendors, and strategic partners
- Educate clients and prospects on market developments, cost‑containment strategies, and innovative benefit solutions
- Identify cross‑sell opportunities across the firm's broader offerings
Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in employee benefits sales, account management, or insurance consulting
- Strong understanding of fully insured and self‑funded plan structures, including stop‑loss
- Proven success driving revenue and managing a sales pipeline
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Ability to lead complex client conversations and deliver consultative guidance
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow‑through
- Proficiency with carrier portals, benefits technology, and RFP processes
