A CFO advisory and performance improvement firm is seeking a Director to join its Office of the CFO Advisory practice. This individual will partner with private equity-backed and middle-market organizations to address complex accounting, finance, and operational challenges. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, Chief Accounting Officers, and executive leadership teams, helping clients improve finance functions, enhance reporting processes, and execute strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead client engagements focused on Office of the CFO transformation, finance organization effectiveness, technical accounting, and financial reporting.
- Advise clients on complex accounting matters, including researching and interpreting applicable accounting guidance and developing practical recommendations.
- Partner with CFOs and senior finance leaders to improve financial reporting processes, close procedures, internal controls, and overall finance function performance.
- Assess and optimize accounting and reporting operations to enhance efficiency, scalability, and decision-making capabilities.
- Support clients through periods of change, including transactions, carve-outs, integrations, restructurings, system implementations, and finance transformations.
- Serve in interim leadership capacities when required, including roles such as Interim Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, Head of Finance, or Financial Reporting Leader.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and assist clients in enhancing reporting accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop executive-level financial reporting packages, management reporting tools, and key performance metrics.
- Lead and mentor consultants and managers while serving as the primary point of contact for clients.
- Contribute to practice growth through business development, relationship management, thought leadership, and cross-selling opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA not required, but ideal.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, accounting advisory, transaction related accounting, or corporate finance functions. Current or recent experience at a Consulting firm IS REQUIRED.
- Experience leading client engagements and managing relationships with executive stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement scalable solutions across finance and accounting functions.
- Experience serving private equity-backed and middle-market companies preferred.
- Strong project management, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
