Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physical Crude Oil Trader to join our Houston-based trading team. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of trading North American domestic crude grades and Canadian crude oil, with deep market knowledge, commercial acumen, and established industry relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute physical crude oil trades across North American and Canadian markets, optimizing profitability and managing risk.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, refiners, pipeline operators, and other market participants.
  • Monitor market fundamentals, pricing trends, and logistics to identify trading opportunities.
  • Negotiate term and spot contracts, including pricing, volume, and delivery terms.
  • Collaborate with scheduling, risk, and finance teams to ensure seamless trade execution and settlement.
  • Maintain and expand market intelligence through regular engagement with counterparties and industry sources.
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk policies and external regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in physical crude oil trading, with a focus on North American and Canadian markets.
  • Strong understanding of crude oil grades, pipeline systems, storage hubs, and refining economics.
  • Proven ability to generate P&L through strategic trading and market positioning.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • Familiarity with trading platforms, market data tools, and risk management systems.
