Step into a role where your credit judgment directly influences the bank's risk profile and commercial success. Sitting in the Second Line of Defence, you'll assess complex transactions, guide senior stakeholders, and help strengthen the bank's credit risk framework across either Leveraged Finance or Financial Institutions portfolios.

This is a high‑visibility role ideal for credit professionals who thrive in analytical depth, cross‑functional collaboration, and influencing outcomes at senior level.

What You'll Do

  • Lead end‑to‑end credit assessments for leveraged borrowers or FI counterparties - analysing financials, structures, and sector dynamics.
  • Produce high‑quality credit papers, ratings analysis, and forward‑looking sector reviews.
  • Offer clear, evidence‑based recommendations on new transactions, renewals, and event‑driven requests.
  • Challenge first‑line proposals to ensure balanced decisions on credit quality, capital usage, and commercial goals.
  • Act as a trusted credit partner to relationship teams, product specialists, and senior approvers.
  • Deliver concise credit advice and briefings to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with regional and global credit teams to maintain consistent standards and best practices.
  • Support portfolio reviews, early‑warning monitoring, and risk appetite calibration.
  • Track market, regulatory, and sector trends to anticipate emerging risks.
  • Contribute to internal projects and guide junior colleagues through coaching and knowledge‑sharing.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in credit risk within financial services. Expertise in Leveraged Finance or Financial Institutions is essential.
  • Strong command of credit fundamentals, complex lending structures, and relevant documentation (e.g., LMA).
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations around credit approval and ongoing monitoring.
  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders.
