AVP, Architects and Engineers

A rapidly growing specialty insurance carrier is seeking an experienced underwriting leader to spearhead its Architects & Engineers Errors & Omissions (E&O) product line. This is a strategic, high-impact role focused on product innovation, underwriting excellence, and broker relationship development in the excess & surplus (E&S) market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and evolution of a competitive A&E E&O product offering, informed by market trends and broker feedback.
  • Drive new business production and renewal growth through a strong network of wholesale brokers.
  • Establish underwriting guidelines and strategies to meet profitability and growth targets.
  • Oversee risk selection, pricing, and policy structure in collaboration with actuarial and analytics teams.
  • Represent the company at industry events, acting as a visible leader and product expert.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with brokers and clients, providing high-level support and guidance.
  • Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to a culture of professional development and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of underwriting experience in Professional Liability, with a focus on Architects & Engineers E&O.
  • Proven success in driving production and managing broker relationships.
  • Experience in product development and market launch preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25%+ for broker engagement and industry visibility.
  • Deep understanding of industry dynamics, regulatory landscape, and competitive positioning.
  • Highly organized with strong project management capabilities.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field.
  • Advanced certifications such as CPCU, RPLU, or ARM are a plus.
