As the AVP of A&E Underwriting, you will be responsible for overseeing underwriting strategy, portfolio management, and team leadership within the Architects & Engineers segment. You will collaborate with brokers, actuaries, and claims professionals to ensure underwriting excellence and deliver customized solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and manage the A&E underwriting program, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
  • Develop and execute underwriting strategies for Architects & Engineers professional liability products.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and loss experience to inform pricing and product development.
  • Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships to drive new business and retention.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and legal teams to manage risk and ensure compliance.
  • Mentor and develop underwriters, fostering a high-performance culture.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of underwriting experience in professional liability, with a strong focus on Architects & Engineers.
  • Proven leadership or program build-out experience.
  • Wholesale broker relationships preferred.
  • Deep understanding of A&E exposures, policy forms, and risk management practices.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required; CPCU, RPLU, or other industry designations preferred.
