E&S Property Underwriter
Overview:
My client is hiring a Senior Excess & Surplus (E&S) Underwriter to join their dynamic and growing team in Chicago. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned underwriter with deep expertise in evaluating complex risk exposures and developing innovative insurance products, particularly in catastrophe (CAT)-exposed regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, price, and underwrite new and renewal E&S business with a focus on high CAT-exposed areas (e.g., hurricane, wildfire, flood zones).
- Analyze complex risk exposures and develop tailored insurance solutions that align with underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
- Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and product development teams to enhance existing offerings and launch new products.
- Maintain strong broker relationships and drive profitable growth through strategic portfolio management.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to inform underwriting strategy and product innovation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5-7 years of E&S underwriting experience, with a strong track record in high CAT-exposed property or casualty lines.
- Proven ability to assess complex risk profiles and develop customized coverage solutions.
- Experience in product development and innovation within the E&S market.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field (CPCU or other relevant designations a plus).
