Associate Underwriter
A well-established carrier in Iowa is seeking an Associate Underwriter to join its Underwriting Operations team. The organization provides specialized property and casualty services to industries such as construction, forest products, and energy. This role offers a hybrid work schedule and the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and detail-oriented team.
Position Summary:
As part of the Underwriting Operations team, this role involves processing commercial lines policies and quotes using an automated system. Responsibilities include handling quotes, renewals, and endorsements with accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and process insurance-related documents and policy terms
- Review applications and policy change requests for accuracy
- Utilize internal systems to rate and publish policies and endorsements
- Communicate with underwriting personnel regarding quotes, renewals, and changes
- Maintain proficiency in internal systems and external regulatory tools (e.g., ISO, NCCI)
- Calculate premiums for endorsements, cancellations, and payment plans
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial lines insurance preferred
- Familiarity with ISO and NCCI regulations
- Prior use of insurance rating/publishing systems is a plus
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
Work Environment & Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Office-based with hybrid work flexibility
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
- Capable of performing duties both in-person and virtually
- Minimal travel required
