The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a visionary Vice President of Mortgage Insurance Underwriting Operations to lead the development and execution of underwriting operations. This executive role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives in building teams, designing processes, and leveraging technology to drive efficiency and risk-appropriate decision-making in a start-up environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Build and scale underwriting operations aligned with strategic growth plans.
- Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing underwriting and operations team.
- Risk Strategy: Collaborate with Risk to implement advanced methodologies and modeling for sound underwriting decisions.
- Policy & Compliance: Develop underwriting guidelines and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Technology Integration: Define business requirements and partner with IT to implement modern, efficient systems.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze operational metrics to drive continuous improvement and service excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments including Risk, IT, Legal, Compliance, and Product Development.
What You Bring
- 15+ years of experience in mortgage or mortgage insurance underwriting.
- Proven leadership in underwriting operations, ideally in a start-up or high-growth environment.
- Deep knowledge of GSE guidelines, mortgage insurance products, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills.
- Experience working with technology teams to implement underwriting systems and tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field.
