Our client is an established and growing specialty insurance business with a strong focus on personal lines products. They operate in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and are committed to developing talent at every level. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an underwriting assistant to their team to support day-to-day underwriting operations.
The role
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build or progress their underwriting career within personal lines. You will work closely with senior underwriters, providing essential support across a book of business that includes homeowners and related residential property products.
The role sits within a small, close-knit team where your contribution will be visible and your development actively supported.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting underwriters with the assessment, processing and management of homeowners and personal lines risks
- Reviewing and processing new business submissions, renewals, endorsements and cancellations
- Maintaining accurate policy records and documentation in underwriting systems
- Liaising with brokers and agents to gather information and resolve queries
- Supporting risk evaluation by compiling data, running reports and flagging potential issues
- Ensuring compliance with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements and underwriting appetite
- Providing general administrative support to the underwriting team as required
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in an insurance role, ideally within homeowners or personal lines underwriting
- Familiarity with underwriting processes, policy documentation and insurance terminology
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach to work
- Good communication skills - comfortable dealing with brokers, colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with underwriting platforms or policy management systems is a plus
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Progress towards or interest in pursuing relevant insurance qualifications (e.g. CII) is desirable but not essential
