Summary
A leading organization in the cell and gene therapy research space is expanding its scientific informatics capabilities. Additional features need to be developed through a custom web application to support complex research workflows.
This project involves building a front-end-focused scientific web application enabling researchers to design experimental protocols, visualize plate/assay data, and interact seamlessly with Benchling through APIs. The front-end engineer will collaborate closely with scientists, UX designers, and the backend architect to deliver a highly intuitive and performance-optimized scientific interface.
Responsibilities
- Develop front-end components for applications supporting plate maps, assay results, and compound libraries in high-throughput screening workflows.
- Translate scientific workflows and experimental data into clear, intuitive, and interactive visual interfaces.
- Build and maintain Vue 3-based Single Page Applications (SPAs) using Vite (and Axios when applicable).
- Implement and optimize REST API integrations, including Benchling API interactions.
- Ensure strong performance and responsiveness for large scientific datasets and real-time visualization needs.
- Contribute to scientific visualization frameworks across HTS, ELN/LIMS, and compound management tools.
- Collaborate closely with the project's backend architect (who is covering all backend development).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of professional front-end engineering experience.
- Expert knowledge of Vue 3, component-based architecture, and SPA development with Vite.
- Strong experience with D3.js or similar data visualization libraries (Plotly, Chart.js, etc.).
- Practical experience with biotech or pharmaceutical R&D workflows, including:
- Plate-based assays (96/384/1536-well)
- Sample or compound management
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, JSON handling, and responsive UI design.
- Experience with ELN/LIMS systems - Benchling strongly preferred.
- Strong UI/UX sensibility for data-heavy scientific environments.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate with scientific stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD processes, and modern development tooling.
