Overview
A leading technology-driven organization is seeking a seasoned Database Specialist to join its infrastructure engineering team. This team is responsible for managing complex data environments across multiple geographic locations. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable database solutions that support mission-critical applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure uninterrupted database operations in alignment with service-level agreements
- Monitor and fine-tune database performance, optimize queries, and enhance system efficiency
- Install, configure, and maintain database servers and software in a Linux-based environment
- Support development and testing teams by provisioning and maintaining required databases
- Design and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using industry-standard tools
- Lead database patching, version upgrades, and migration initiatives
- Conduct capacity planning to support future growth and scalability
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks
- Enforce compliance and security protocols across all database systems
- Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Hands-on experience with MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Oracle in Linux environments
- Familiarity with high availability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard
- Proficiency with database utilities like RMAN, Datapump, and mysqldump
- Exposure to Oracle PL/SQL including packages, stored procedures, and functions
- Experience with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB is a plus
- Advanced scripting skills in Shell or Korn Shell on Unix/Linux platforms
- Knowledge of database management tools such as Oracle Grid Control and MySQL Workbench
- Working experience with collaboration tools like Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
