Role Description
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic professional to join the Compliance team in Luxembourg-City.

As Compliance Officer, you will work closely with the EU Head of Compliance and the Group Risk and Compliance teams. This is a second line of defense role, offering the opportunity to collaborate on unique projects and product launches in the fast-evolving crypto landscape.

You will support the Head of Compliance in ensuring the company demonstrates adequate and effective financial crime and consumer protection oversight mechanisms. You will also assist in compliance testing and monitoring to ensure controls are aligned with applicable laws and regulations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the EU Head of Compliance in developing, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures in line with best practices and Luxembourg/EU regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and report compliance-related findings in a timely and structured manner.
  • Conduct periodic compliance monitoring and testing to assess the effectiveness of policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Assist in preparing, validating, and submitting periodic compliance reports to senior management, the Board, and regulators.
  • Support audit and regulatory engagements, including inspections, external audits, and internal reviews.
  • Contribute to regulatory watch and impact assessments.
  • Help develop and deliver compliance training programs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance matters, offering expert guidance.
  • Collaborate with Customer Operations and the global compliance team to investigate alerts related to unusual customer behavior and high-risk transactions.
  • Design and refine behavioral and transaction monitoring rules.
  • Oversee calibration and optimization of sanctions screening tools.
  • Play a key role in enhancing and optimizing the compliance program to meet evolving regulatory demands.

Desired Skills

Education

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Audit, Economics, International Banking & Finance, Law, or Risk Management.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ACAMS, ACFCS, ICA) are a plus.

Experience - Required

  • Minimum 5 years in a Compliance advisory or Compliance Assurance role within the second line of defense of a regulated financial institution-preferably in banking, EMI, PI, or Fintech within Luxembourg or the EEA.
  • Strong expertise in AML/CFT, transaction monitoring, sanctions compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, risk, and operations teams.
  • Strong knowledge of EU and Luxembourg regulations on financial crime, conduct, and consumer protection.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including experience writing compliance reports and policies.

Experience - Preferred

  • Knowledge of EU DORA, Outsourcing, and MiCAR.
  • Experience running compliance monitoring plans (2nd or 3rd line).
  • Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools.
  • Prior engagement with Luxembourg authorities.
  • Knowledge of trade surveillance rules and systems.

Languages

  • Required: English (business proficiency)
  • Preferred: French or other European languages

Additional Information

  • Due to the nature of the business, the successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record (n.3) prior to hiring.
