Position Overview
The AVP of Finance & Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving strategic financial planning. This leader will manage a high-performing team and collaborate cross-functionally to support business growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance and accounting functions, including general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Oversee statutory and GAAP financial reporting for P&C insurance operations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, state insurance departments).
- Manage internal controls and support external audits.
- Partner with actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams to analyze financial performance and trends.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives across finance operations.
- Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the P&C insurance industry.
- Deep understanding of insurance accounting principles, statutory reporting, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday).
