Underwriting Assistant - Commercial E&S
Our client is a Top 10 MGA, seeking a highly organized and detail‑driven Underwriting Assistant to support their underwriting team specializing in senior living risks-including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing facilities.
In this role, you'll work closely with underwriters on complex, program‑driven accounts and play a key part in ensuring accurate submissions, timely policy processing, and strong communication across brokers, carriers, and internal partners. This is an excellent opportunity for an underwriting professional looking to deepen their expertise in senior living and healthcare risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior living underwriters with new business, renewals, and mid‑term changes
- Review, organize, and prepare underwriting submissions (applications, loss runs, supplemental forms)
- Assist with analysis of account information; identify coverage issues, missing data, or risk concerns
- Prepare quotes, binders, endorsements, and policy documents in alignment with underwriting guidelines
- Coordinate policy issuance and verify accuracy of terms, limits, deductibles, and forms
- Maintain complete, organized, audit‑ready underwriting files
- Communicate professionally with brokers, carriers, and internal teams to obtain information and resolve issues
- Track submissions, quotes, and renewals to ensure deadlines and service standards are met
- Assist with data entry, reporting, and premium tracking
- Support special projects and process improvement initiatives for senior living programs
Required Qualifications
- 2-5 years of underwriting or underwriting support experience in commercial insurance
- Experience in E&S, MGA, or program business strongly preferred
- Exposure to senior living, healthcare, habitational, or social services risks is a plus
- Solid understanding of underwriting workflows, policy documents, and rating fundamentals
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); underwriting system experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
