Senior Underwriter - Construction or Energy (Oil & Gas)
Location: Dallas, TX or Remote in Houston
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits
A top national specialty insurance carrier is looking to add an experienced Senior Underwriter to its growing underwriting team. This opportunity can be aligned to either the Construction practice or the Energy (Oil & Gas) practice depending on the candidate's background and expertise. It is a 3 day hybrid in their Dallas office.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal accounts within the assigned territory.
- Evaluate risk exposures, pricing, coverage terms, and overall account profitability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers.
- Develop and execute territory business plans to achieve growth and profit objectives.
- Negotiate pricing, structure coverage solutions, and manage a profitable portfolio.
- Collaborate with claims, loss control, actuarial, and underwriting leadership teams.
- Travel periodically throughout the territory to strengthen broker relationships and generate new business opportunities.
Qualifications
- 3-10 years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience. Salary commensurate with experience.
- Background in either:
- Construction underwriting (primary, excess, casualty, property, builders risk, contractors, wrap-ups, etc.), or
- Energy/Oil & Gas underwriting (upstream, midstream, downstream, energy services, contractors, environmental exposures, etc.).
- Strong broker relationships and production mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a profitable book of business.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, ARM, or CRIS are a plus.
