Senior Database Engineer (PostgreSQL & Oracle)
A leading financial firm is looking for a Senior Database Engineer to manage and evolve critical PostgreSQL and Oracle database infrastructure. This role will focus on database reliability, performance, scalability, and operational support across enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
- Manage, support, and optimize PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
- Monitor database health and perform performance tuning and query optimization.
- Build and maintain production and non-production database environments.
- Oversee backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions.
- Partner with infrastructure teams on capacity planning and system performance initiatives.
- Work closely with software engineers to improve database design and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot complex database and platform issues.
- Drive improvements to database architecture, automation, and operational processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of database engineering or administration experience with PostgreSQL.
- Oracle database experience preferred.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills.
- Experience with replication, clustering, failover, and high-availability technologies.
- Expertise in database monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of storage infrastructure and SAN technologies is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience supporting business-critical production environments.
- Familiarity with SDLC, source control, and change management practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly.
