Overview

A vertically integrated real estate investment management platform focused on multifamily investments is seeking a Senior Associate, Portfolio Management to support portfolio-level strategy, performance optimization, and investment decision-making across its investment vehicles.

This role will partner closely with the Portfolio Manager to drive fund and portfolio performance through capital allocation analysis, portfolio analytics, reporting, and investor communications. The position offers exposure across investment management, asset management, capital markets, and investor relations, serving as a key link between property-level execution and portfolio-level strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

  • Support the development and execution of portfolio strategy, including return objectives, portfolio composition, diversification targets, and risk management.
  • Analyze hold, sell, refinance, and capital allocation decisions across the portfolio.
  • Monitor fund-level leverage, liquidity, cash management, and distribution planning.
  • Assist with portfolio valuation processes and coordination of third-party appraisals.
  • Review annual property business plans and budgets to ensure alignment with portfolio and fund objectives.
  • Monitor compliance with investment guidelines, debt covenants, and applicable fund requirements.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Build and maintain portfolio and fund-level financial models, including forecasts, sensitivity analyses, return attribution, and scenario testing.
  • Develop and maintain portfolio KPI dashboards, tracking performance against underwriting assumptions and budgets.
  • Lead quarterly and annual reporting processes, including performance reporting, benchmarking analyses, and investment committee materials.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, asset management, and investor relations teams to ensure accuracy and consistency across reporting deliverables.

Investor Relations & Capital Markets Support

  • Assist in the preparation of investor presentations, marketing materials, offering memoranda, performance exhibits, and track record documentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy of portfolio performance data and investment metrics used in fundraising and investor communications.
  • Support due diligence efforts, including DDQs, data room management, and consultant requests.
  • Contribute market insights and portfolio commentary for investor updates and thought leadership initiatives.

Investor Communications

  • Participate in investor meetings, advisor discussions, and capital formation activities as a portfolio-level subject matter expert.
  • Present portfolio performance, investment strategy, and market outlook to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft investor correspondence, performance commentary, and responses to ad hoc investor inquiries.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences and investor events as needed.

Asset Management Oversight & Transactions

  • Work alongside portfolio and asset management teams to establish portfolio objectives and monitor execution against business plans.
  • Participate in investment committee discussions related to acquisitions, dispositions, and portfolio strategy.
  • Support transaction execution activities, including financing initiatives, recapitalizations, and portfolio integration efforts.
  • Assist in evaluating new investments from a portfolio construction and portfolio fit perspective.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate portfolio management, investment management, asset management, or a related discipline.
  • Multifamily real estate experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of real estate finance, valuation methodologies, capital structures, and investment performance metrics.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills with demonstrated experience supporting portfolio-level decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact confidently with investors, advisors, and senior leadership.
  • Experience with private real estate funds, REIT structures, or tax-advantaged investment vehicles is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, or a related field required.
  • MBA, CFA, CAIA, or other relevant professional designation preferred.
