Senior Specialty Underwriting Leadership Opportunity (MGA Platform)
We are partnered with a well‑capitalized specialty MGA platform seeking experienced specialty underwriting leaders to build and grow underwriting portfolios and develop new specialty products within the U.S. market.
This opportunity is suited to professionals who have progressed beyond a traditional underwriting seat and are ready to own a specialty business, shape underwriting strategy, and operate with long‑term commercial and equity alignment. The scope may include one or more related specialty lines, rather than a single defined program.
The Role
- Lead the development and growth of a specialty underwriting portfolio
- Drive the launch of new specialty products or underwriting capabilities in the U.S.
- Set underwriting appetite, pricing discipline, and portfolio strategy
- Build and scale a sustainable book of business over time
- Serve as a senior market contact for retail brokers and carrier partners
- Structure and maintain carrier capacity, governance, and reporting
- Recruit, mentor, and develop underwriting talent as the business grows
Background
- 12+ years' experience in specialty underwriting with clear leadership responsibility
- Proven ownership of a meaningful specialty book or portfolio
- Strong senior‑level broker and carrier relationships
- Background within MGA, program, or smaller specialty carrier environments strongly preferred
- Commercial, entrepreneurial mindset with interest in long‑term equity participation
