About the Role

A fast-growing technology firm operating in the digital asset space is seeking a Kotlin Software Engineer to join its backend engineering team. The company is focused on building scalable, low-latency systems to support a rapidly expanding user base and asset offering. This role involves working on high-performance services that enable seamless user experiences in a dynamic and evolving domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership and peers to design and implement low-latency, high-throughput backend services.
  • Tackle complex technical challenges with a focus on performance optimization, benchmarking, and system reliability.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technology stack selection.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems and resolve incidents.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong understanding of low-level JVM and operating system concepts; proficiency in Kotlin or other JVM-based languages.
  • Solid grasp of software design patterns and principles.

Preferred Experience

  • Interest in working within a startup or scale-up environment.
  • Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP and UDP.
  • Experience with libraries like Aeron or Chronicle Queue.
  • Knowledge of event-driven microservices architecture using Kafka.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
