Hedge Fund - Equity Analyst
About the Role
You will originate and maintain investment coverage on selected A‑share subsectors, preferably across Consumer, Chemicals, Cyclicals, or Industrials. The ideal hire demonstrates a clear circle of competence and can independently take ideas from hypothesis to portfolio recommendation through disciplined research, tight feedback loops with PMs, and timely risk awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Independent Coverage: Build and maintain a high‑conviction coverage universe within your sector(s); map value chains, competitive dynamics, regulatory/policy sensitivities, and key drivers for A‑share names.
- Research & Modeling: Conduct bottoms‑up research (financial statements, channel checks, expert calls, alternative data) and produce robust 3‑statement models, scenario/ sensitivity analysis, and valuation (DCF, comparables, SOTP, event‑driven frameworks).
- Idea Generation: Develop differentiated long/short theses with clear catalysts, risk/reward, and monitoring frameworks; track datapoints at high frequency to refresh views.
- Market Intelligence: Maintain an actionable on‑the‑ground network (suppliers, distributors, industry associations, brokers) to validate assumptions and spot inflections early.
- Communication: Deliver concise investment write‑ups and present to PMs; defend thesis with evidence; incorporate feedback and post‑mortems into process improvement.
- Risk Awareness: Identify factor exposures, policy risks, liquidity/positioning considerations, and event paths; collaborate with PM on position sizing and risk limits.
- Compliance & Process: Adhere to firm research standards, record‑keeping, and information‑barrier policies.
Candidate Profile (Must‑Have)
- 2-6 years of equity research / buy‑side / sell‑side experience covering A‑share sectors; prior ownership of names with published notes or internal memos preferred.
- Sector strength in Consumer, Chemicals, Cyclicals, or Industrials; adjacent sector breadth welcomed if supported by a clear circle of competence.
- Demonstrated judgment and tracking capability: ability to prioritize drivers, maintain watchlists, and update views as data changes.
- Practical networking ability for primary research (management, channels, industry KOLs).
- Strong accounting and valuation skills; proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint; familiarity with Wind/Choice/Bloomberg/同花顺等为佳。
- Communication: capable of writing succinct investment theses in English and Chinese; confident in debating views with PMs.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related disciplines.
