Summary
Employee Benefits Executive Account Managers serve in a hybrid role, combining the responsibilities of an Account Manager and an Account Executive for their assigned clients. They partner with Producers to cultivate new relationships and strengthen existing client partnerships. Their responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive employee benefits programs, ensuring exceptional client service, and providing strategic guidance on plan design, compliance, and renewal management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support to Employee Benefits Sales Executives in developing and maintaining client relationships, both new and existing.
- Collaborate with Sales Executives to understand client needs and deliver comprehensive employee benefits solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
- Partner with the service team to ensure accurate and timely processing of renewals, enrollments, terminations, plan changes, and other administrative tasks.
- Lead annual renewal processes, including marketing, analyzing plan options, negotiating rates and terms with carriers, and recommending plan adjustments.
- Prepare and present benefits proposals, renewal analyses, and open enrollment materials.
- Identify opportunities for plan enhancements, cost savings, and additional coverage options to support client goals.
- Collaborate with Sales Executives to identify and pursue new business opportunities, including participating in presentations and client meetings.
- Stay current on employee benefits laws, compliance requirements (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.), and industry trends.
- Maintain accurate and organized client records within the Agency Management System.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries, ensuring timely resolution.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain expertise in benefits products, technology, and compliance.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, specifically in employee benefits account management.
- Current and valid California Life and Health insurance license required.
- Professional designation (e.g., CEBS, RHU, REBC) preferred, or willingness to obtain within 18 months.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits products, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary plans, funding arrangements, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, carriers, and vendors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with agency management systems preferred.
- Experience hosting virtual meetings and delivering presentations via platforms such as Teams or Zoom.
