An international financial services firm with a strong European presence is seeking an Accountant to join its Rotterdam-based finance team. This opportunity is ideal for accounting professionals looking to take ownership of cross-border financial operations and contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
Role Overview
As an Accountant, you will oversee the financial operations of multiple European branches, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective treasury management. You will work closely with senior finance leadership and external stakeholders, with opportunities to contribute to strategic projects and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for European branches
- Coordinate statutory filings and tax submissions (CIT, VAT, WHT)
- Manage treasury operations including credit control and payments
- Lead audit processes and act as the primary contact for internal and external auditors
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Support onboarding of branches into group financial systems
- Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Recommend and implement process improvements and automation
- Travel to branch locations as required
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional accounting qualification preferred
- 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting or financial control
- Familiarity with German GAAP and Greek GAAP is a plus
- Strong proficiency in MS Office; experience with SUN6 and Q&A11 desirable
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German or Greek preferred
- Proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented with a hands-on approach
- Willingness to travel internationally
