We are partnering with a highly regarded international investment banking platform to appoint a Director within its Technology Investment Banking team in Berlin.
The firm has built a strong reputation advising ambitious technology businesses, founders, shareholders and financial sponsors on complex strategic transactions. With an international footprint and a deeply sector-focused approach, the platform offers senior bankers the opportunity to work across the European technology ecosystem while maintaining significant responsibility for client relationships, transaction execution and business development.
This is a senior hire into the Berlin office and would suit an experienced technology investment banker looking for greater ownership, visibility and the opportunity to play an important role in the continued growth of the franchise.
The Role
As a Director, you will be responsible for leading transaction execution while developing and maintaining relationships with technology companies, entrepreneurs, investors and financial sponsors across Germany and the wider European market.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the execution of M&A and strategic advisory transactions across the technology sector
- Managing transactions from initial preparation and positioning through marketing, negotiation and completion
- Developing relationships with founders, management teams, shareholders, private equity investors and other key market participants
- Originating new advisory opportunities and contributing to the continued expansion of the firm's presence across the DACH technology market
- Working closely with senior bankers across the firm's international offices to identify and execute cross-border opportunities
- Providing strategic advice to clients around acquisitions, disposals, capital raising and broader corporate finance considerations
- Leading pitch preparation and developing high-quality strategic and transaction materials for prospective clients
- Providing oversight and guidance to junior bankers across transaction execution, financial analysis and marketing materials
- Supporting the development of Analysts, Associates and Vice Presidents within the team
- Acting as a senior representative of the franchise within the technology and investment community
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an established investment banking professional with strong technology sector credentials and a track record of executing M&A transactions.
The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:
- Significant experience within investment banking, M&A advisory or a highly relevant corporate finance environment
- Strong transaction experience, ideally with a meaningful focus on Technology, Software, Digital, Internet or Technology Enabled Services
- A track record of managing complex M&A processes from origination or initial client engagement through to completion
- Strong understanding of valuation, financial analysis and transaction structuring
- Experience managing senior client relationships with founders, management teams, corporates and/or financial sponsors
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities
- Leadership experience and the ability to manage and develop junior deal teams
- Existing knowledge of the German and broader European technology ecosystem
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Professional fluency in German and English
- An entrepreneurial mindset and desire to operate within a specialist, growth-oriented advisory platform
