Overview
A leading energy and infrastructure company is seeking a Vice President, Renewables to oversee the commercial strategy and performance of a large-scale renewable generation portfolio across U.S. power markets. This executive will be responsible for driving energy marketing, trading, asset optimization, risk management, and strategic growth initiatives while partnering closely with senior leadership on investment and acquisition opportunities.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in wholesale power markets, renewable energy commercialization, asset management, and market risk analysis, along with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commercial strategies that maximize the value of renewable generation assets across organized power markets.
- Lead market analysis efforts to identify trading, hedging, and optimization opportunities.
- Oversee energy marketing activities, including power offtake structures, contracting strategies, and revenue optimization.
- Manage relationships with third-party asset managers, schedulers, and market operators.
- Direct risk management activities, ensuring compliance with established trading and exposure limits.
- Partner with corporate development and investment teams to evaluate acquisitions, project investments, and strategic growth opportunities.
- Monitor market fundamentals, regulatory developments, and evolving market structures that impact portfolio performance.
- Provide executive-level reporting and market insights to senior leadership and investment committees.
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing commercial and analytical teams.
- Represent the organization with counterparties, industry stakeholders, consultants, and market participants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Energy Management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in power markets, renewable energy, energy trading, asset management, or commercial operations.
- Deep understanding of U.S. wholesale power markets, congestion dynamics, capacity markets, and renewable energy economics.
- Experience managing renewable generation portfolios, including wind, solar, and battery storage assets.
- Strong knowledge of commodity risk management, hedge structures, and market fundamentals.
- Demonstrated success leading commercial teams and driving profitability within complex energy markets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term growth initiatives with day-to-day commercial execution
