Location: Remote (East Coast Coverage)
Overview
Our client is seeking a Vice President of Originations to support and expand its Software & Technology lending platform. The firm is a lower middle market, principal balance sheet lender backed by two family offices, with approximately $450MM currently on the balance sheet deployed across multiple lending vehicles.
This role will focus on originating recurring revenue and cash‑flow term loans to software, SaaS, and tech‑enabled services companies. The position is highly relationship‑driven, sourcing almost exclusively through investment banks, venture capital firms, private equity sponsors, and banking relationships rather than direct to company outreach.
The individual will serve as the firm's primary East Coast originator, partnering with a West Coast-based investment team.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate lower middle market debt investments ($3MM-$20MM) for software, SaaS, and tech‑enabled services companies
- Primary focus on recurring revenue term loans, with selective cash‑flow term loans
- Source opportunities through established intermediary channels, including:
- Technology‑focused investment banking boutiques
- Venture capital investors
- Growth equity and lower middle market private equity sponsors
- Tech‑oriented commercial banks and specialty lenders
- Leverage existing tech banking ecosystems to generate consistent deal flow
- Partner closely with internal underwriting and credit teams, maintaining a strong credit‑first mindset
- Ramp origination activity toward $25MM+ annually, with typical deal sizes of $5-10MM
- Represent the firm across the East Coast through sponsor meetings and industry events
Qualifications
- 8-15+ years of experience in private credit origination, investment banking, or venture lending
- Direct experience with software, SaaS, or tech‑enabled services businesses
- EsTablished relationships with:
- Technology investment bankers
- Venture capital firms
- Growth equity and LMM PE sponsors
- Prior exposure to tech‑focused banking or lending platforms strongly preferred
- Demonstrated credit acumen and underwriting fluency
- Entrepreneurial, self‑directed professional comfortable operating without a formal office environment
- Based in New York or the broader East Coast
