Vice President, Deal Origination
A leading middle market Private Equity firm is seeking a Vice President, Deal Origination to join its business development team. In this role, you will play a central role in developing intermediary relationships and sourcing new deals across target verticals. The position offers meaningful visibility to senior leadership, ongoing interaction with company executives and intermediaries, and the opportunity to grow with the firm long-term.
The Vice President, Deal Origination will take point on building and maintaining relationships with bankers, brokers, and sponsors to identify opportunities for platform and add-on acquisitions. The experienced deal sourcing candidate will work hand-in-hand with the Head of Business Development to develop and execute a targeted effort to build a consistent, high quality pipeline of deals. The role combines strategic outreach, relationship development, and market intelligence, offering the opportunity to build a deep understanding of subsector dynamics while directly contributing to the success and growth of the firm.
The Vice President, Deal Origination will:
- Develop and refine outreach strategies in coordination with the Head of Business Development
- Assist portfolio companies with market mapping, target identification, and outreach for add‑on acquisitions.
- Maintain regular communication with investment banks, brokers, and other advisors, strengthening existing relationships and expanding new ones.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, trade shows, and relevant events; the role includes travel to support ongoing market coverage.
- Ensure timely, thoughtful follow-up and maintain visibility with key deal sources.
- Conduct initial screening of new opportunities based on firm criteria.
- Track all business development activity and pipeline movements within the firm's CRM.
- Contribute to monthly reporting on intermediary coverage, deal activity, and sector‑focused sourcing initiatives.
- Help implement scalable processes and automation tools to support efficient communication, pipeline organization, and performance monitoring.
The Vice President, Deal Origination should possess:
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in private equity business development, corporate development at a PE‑backed company, or another role involving direct deal sourcing
- Strong communication skills and comfort engaging with senior executives and advisors.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple parallel outreach efforts.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a lean, fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM systems, dashboards, or marketing tools is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professional maturity, and the ability to represent the firm with credibility.
