Salary: $120k - $160k + bonus
Summary:
Join the Finance team at a leading alternative investment firm and play a key role in the valuation oversight process. In this high-impact position, you'll be part of the Independent Price Verification (IPV) team, responsible for ensuring investments, including structured products, whole loans, private equity, and derivatives, are valued at fair value in accordance with valuation policies and regulatory standards. You'll conduct independent valuation assessments by comparing internal marks to third-party pricing vendors and valuation firms, certify models and methodologies, test adherence to valuation policies, resolve discrepancies, and communicate valuation assessments to senior management.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Lead the monthly Independent Price Verification (IPV) process across the firms global portfolio, leveraging external data sources and proprietary valuation models.
- Execute Intex models to assess and value structured products, including RMBS, CMBS, ABS, and CLOs.
- Perform detailed cash flow modeling, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing for structured credit investments.
- Support daily operations, including monitoring pricing feeds from multiple vendors, conducting trade back-testing, identifying stale prices, escalating issues to senior management, and completing ad-hoc deliverables.
- Prepare and present valuation summaries for review with senior finance executives and the investment team.
- Critically evaluate and challenge valuation methodologies proposed by the investment team.
- Analyze key valuation drivers and structural components, such as waterfalls, cash flow triggers, loan origination processes, pricing models, servicing practices, market trends, technical factors, collateral characteristics, and regulatory actions impacting valuations.
- Oversee preparation, review, and delivery of materials for monthly valuation committee meetings.
- Enhance and streamline workflows, identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and skills:
- Strong valuation experience across securitized products (CMBS, CLOs, RMBS, ABS, whole loans, MSRs) with proficiency in Intex for cash flow analysis.
- Exposure to Private Equity and Derivatives valuation is a plus.
- Financial modeling experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of VBA, SQL, Bloomberg is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
- 5-8 years of pricing and valuation experience in asset management, advisory, or consulting.
