A leading technology-driven trading firm in Amsterdam is seeking an experienced C++ Software Engineer to help develop and optimise the systems that power its electronic trading operations. The role sits within a highly collaborative engineering team focused on building ultra-low latency solutions that operate in demanding, real-time environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance C++ applications.
  • Enhance the speed, reliability, and scalability of trading infrastructure.
  • Work closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and engineers to deliver business-critical solutions.
  • Analyse system bottlenecks and optimise performance across complex distributed environments.
  • Contribute to the design of new trading tools, infrastructure, and internal platforms.
  • Participate in code reviews and drive engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience developing software in modern C++.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and systems programming.
  • Experience building high-performance, low-latency, or real-time applications.
  • Knowledge of Linux environments and network programming.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for writing efficient, maintainable code.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience within trading, financial markets, telecommunications, gaming, or other performance-critical industries.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, concurrency, multithreading, and performance profiling.
  • Familiarity with exchange connectivity, market data systems, or distributed systems.
