Job Description
This role sits within a leading renewable energy and storage-focused organization with a growing presence in US competitive power markets. The Senior Power Trader will lead term trading and portfolio optimization activities across major US ISOs. The ideal candidate brings deep US ISO experience, strong commercial instincts, and a proven track record of generating consistent P&L.
Responsibilities
- Execute term power trades across PJM, CAISO, MISO, ERCOT, and other US ISOs.
- Hedge and optimize physical and financial exposures within the power portfolio.
- Develop and execute proprietary trading strategies based on fundamentals, market structure, and forward curve dynamics.
- Monitor congestion patterns, pricing trends, regulatory changes, and ISO-specific market conditions.
- Collaborate with risk management, analytics, fundamentals, and scheduling teams to ensure accurate trade capture and alignment with portfolio strategy.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior traders and analysts.
Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of hands-on power trading or asset optimization experience.
- Demonstrated term trading experience; candidates with only day‑ahead or real‑time experience will not meet requirements.
- Deep understanding of PJM, CAISO, MISO, ERCOT, and other US ISO market structures.
- Proven track record of generating P&L through directional or relative value trading strategies.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior team members in a trading or commercial setting.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; familiarity with ISO systems, trading tools, and market data platforms.
- Ability to manage complex positions in fast-moving markets.
- Strong communication and decision-making capabilities.
