Senior Operations Analyst - Hedge Fund

Hedge Fund Operations Analyst (9 Month Fixed Term Contract with likely extension)

£75,000 - £100,000 - with strong completion bonus

An established alternative investment manager with a specialist focus on global and emerging markets is looking for an experienced Operations Contractor to join its London team. The role will provide hands-on support across existing fund operations and an upcoming fund launch, while helping maintain key processes and deliverable during a period of team growth and transition.

This is not a back-up role. You will be given real responsibility from day one, independently managing the workflow for a set of products and acting as a senior voice in the team. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running with minimal onboarding.

Initial contract length: 9months, with possibility of extension
Start date: ASAP

Responsibilities

  • Independently managing the end-to-end workflow for a subset of futures, equities, bonds, FX forwards, FX options, IRS, CDS, listed options and TRS, with deep understanding of their full trade lifecycle.
  • Sharing your experience to challenge and improve existing processes.
  • Participating in and contributing to working groups for new fund launches.
  • Working closely with PMs to resolve ad hoc trade and operational queries.
  • Clearing settlement breaks, chasing counterparties and administrators, monitoring bookings and pushing trades through to settlement
  • Overseeing cash, position and P&L reconciliations and resolving differences with the fund administrator
  • Managing and approving multiple OTC cash settlements each day.
  • Supporting the onboarding and training of new permanent hires where appropriate.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of operations experience, including significant time at a hedge fund (essential).
  • Deep, practical understanding of the full trade lifecycle across multiple asset classes, with the ability to own products independently from day one.
  • Ability to quickly absorb new systems and processes and assess where they can be improved.
  • Confidence working directly with PMs and traders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience managing reconciliations and resolving breaks with fund administrators and counterparties.
  • Availability to start at short notice.
