Senior Gas Trader - Zug, Switzerland

Are you a seasoned gas trader looking for real ownership, meaningful risk, and the freedom to run your own ideas? Our client, a highly regarded player in the global commodities sector, is hiring a Senior Gas Trader to join their Zug office on a permanent basis.

This is a senior, front-office role with significant responsibility. You will drive proprietary natural gas trading activity, shape and lead trading strategies, and potentially build and manage your own trading book and team.

The Role

As Senior Gas Trader, you will focus on natural gas within the wider energy and commodities space, deploying fundamental strategies and taking full ownership of a proprietary trading book.

You will:

• Run a natural gas trading book with clear P&L accountability.
• Develop and execute fundamental trading strategies using macro and micro market drivers.
• Work closely with other traders, analysts and risk to maximise risk-adjusted returns.
• Actively manage positions within defined limits, optimising risk and capital usage.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the trading platform and strategy roadmap.

What You'll Bring

You live and breathe the natural gas markets. You understand pricing drivers, regional dynamics, and how supply-demand imbalances move the curve - and you can translate that insight into profitable, risk-aware trading strategies.

Ideally, you will have:

• Deep experience in natural gas trading, with a strong commodities or energy background.
• A proven track record running a proprietary trading book, preferably in European gas markets.
• Hands-on exposure to fundamental strategies and data-driven decision-making.
• Comfort in a true front-office environment: taking risk, executing trades, and managing positions.
• Experience mentoring junior traders or leading a small team (or a clear appetite to do so).
