Senior FX Trader
About the Role
This role is responsible for taking risk and generating trading revenues across a range of financial instruments, with a primary focus on FX spot, forwards, and NDFs. The trader will actively manage risk exposures, contribute to market‑making activities, and work closely with regional and headquarters trading units.
Key Responsibilities
1. Proprietary Trading & Risk Management
- Execute proprietary trading strategies across FX spot, forwards, and NDFs, with a specialization in Southeast Asian currencies.
- Manage interest rate exposures and related derivative products where relevant.
- Monitor market developments to identify trading opportunities and optimize portfolio performance.
- Ensure positions are managed within prescribed risk limits and comply with internal guidelines.
2. Market Making & Client Support
- Provide competitive pricing and liquidity in regional currency products to internal stakeholders, including corporate markets teams and other branches.
- Partner with Sales to deliver timely market colour, price indications, and trade ideas to support client engagement and revenue generation.
3. Collaboration & Regional Coordination
- Work closely with regional trading units and headquarters to ensure alignment of market views, risk positions, and overall trading strategy.
- Contribute to a collaborative desk culture by sharing insights, market intelligence, and best practices across teams.
4. Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in FX trading, with demonstrated expertise in SEA currencies.
- Proven track record in proprietary trading and risk‑taking roles.
- Strong knowledge of FX market microstructure, regional macro themes, and derivatives pricing.
- Ability to make swift, well‑informed trading decisions under dynamic market conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across regional teams.
