Senior Compliance Officer
We are supporting a regulated Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) based in Amsterdam in the hire of a Senior Compliance Officer with 8+ years of relevant experience within financial markets. This is a senior, hands-on role covering the full compliance framework of an AFM-regulated trading venue, with close interaction with senior management, regulators, and group stakeholders.
The role is well suited to a compliance professional with deep MiFID II / MiFIR knowledge and direct experience supporting or operating an MTF, OTF, Regulated Market, or equivalent trading platform.
The Role:
- Act as a senior member of the Compliance function with responsibility for the ongoing oversight of the MTF's regulatory obligations under MiFID II / MiFIR
- Serve as a key point of contact with regulators, including the AFM and ESMA, supporting regulatory meetings, inspections, information requests, and filings
- Own and maintain the firm's compliance framework, including policies, procedures, controls, and governance documentation
- Design, implement, and execute the annual compliance monitoring programme, covering market conduct, surveillance, conflicts of interest, best execution, transparency, and reporting obligations
- Provide day-to-day advisory support to the business, including Trading, Product, Technology, and Operations, on regulatory change and new initiatives
- Support regulatory projects including licensing applications, rulebook changes, new products, and business expansions
- Oversee or contribute to market surveillance, incident management, and regulatory reporting processes (including transaction and trade reporting where applicable)
- Deliver and coordinate compliance training for staff and senior management
- Support fitness & propriety assessments, senior manager approvals, and ongoing governance requirements
- Mentor and provide oversight to more junior compliance colleagues where relevant
The Candidate:
- 8+ years' experience in Compliance within financial services, with a strong preference for MTF, OTF, Regulated Market, broker-dealer, or trading venue environments
- Proven, hands-on experience with MiFID II / MiFIR and European market structure regulation
- Direct experience interacting with regulators (AFM, ESMA, FCA or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of market conduct, transparency, surveillance, and governance requirements for trading platforms
- Experience working in an international or high-growth environment is strongly preferred
- Comfortable operating in a senior advisory capacity to management and business stakeholders
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
