A leading middle‑market private equity firm is expanding its senior investment team with the addition of a seasoned Principal, Private Equity. As a Principal, Private Equity, you will play a critical leadership role in driving deal execution, shaping investment strategy, and creating value across the portfolio. The Principal, Private Equity will be deeply involved in sourcing, evaluating, growth equity investment opportunities while taking a hands‑on approach to portfolio management and operational improvement. The Principal Private Equity role requires strong investment judgment, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to influence outcomes with management teams, founders, and operating partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Sourcing: Proactively source and evaluate potential private equity investment opportunities through industry relationships, thematic research, and direct outreach within industrials, consumer, or services businesses.
- Due Diligence: Lead comprehensive due diligence on target companies, including financial analysis, operational assessment, competitive positioning, and risk evaluation.
- Investment Execution: Oversee the structuring, negotiation, and closing of buyout transactions, coordinating closely with legal, lenders, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
- Portfolio Value Creation: Partner with management teams to drive post‑investment strategy, operational improvement, and long‑term value creation. Monitor financial performance and lead strategic initiatives across portfolio companies.
- Leadership & Team Development:Provide mentorship and strategic guidance to junior investment professionals. Play a visible leadership role in shaping investment theses and firm-wide best practices.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with intermediaries, executives, bankers, and industry operators to support sourcing and portfolio growth.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7-12+ years of private equity investing experience, ideally within middle‑market growth equity with specific investment experience in industrials, manufacturing, and/or services businesses.
- Technical Skills:Exceptional financial modeling, investment analysis, and deal execution capabilities.
- Education:MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred (but not strictly required for exceptional PE track records).
- Leadership:Proven ability to manage processes end‑to‑end, influence executives, and mentor junior team members.
- Mindset:Commercially driven, low‑ego, and highly collaborative with a strong ownership mentality.
