Japan L/S Equity Analyst
We are currently representing a top peforming hedge fund, who are looking to add a Japanese Equity Analyst to support a Long/Short Market Neutral Portfolio Manager. The ideal candidate will have strong fundamental research skills, language proficiency in Japanese, and the ability to generate differentiated investment ideas across sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research on Japanese equities across multiple sectors (coverage flexibility).
- Develop and present long and short investment ideas with clear catalysts and risk/reward profiles.
- Cover 40-60 names in assigned sector coverage, and idea generate from day 1.
- Collaborate closely with the Portfolio Manager to optimise portfolio construction and risk management.
- Monitor market trends, company developments, and macroeconomic factors impacting Japanese equities.
Key Requirements:
- Must have prior experience in equity research analysis, ideally within a hedge fund.
- Must have familiarity with long/short market-neutral strategies.
- Sector flexibility (consumer, industrials, tech, financials, etc.).
- Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- CFA designation or equivalent is a plus.
- Language: Native or fluent Japanese proficiency (spoken and written).
- Strong financial modeling and valuation expertise.
- Ability to synthesise complex information into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
