Selby Jennings is partnering with a rapidly growing boutique investment bank is seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join its collaborative and entrepreneurial team in Los Angeles. The firm advises founder-owned businesses, private equity sponsors, and strategic acquirers on mergers & acquisitions, capital raises, and strategic advisory engagements across a variety of high-growth industries.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate looking to take on meaningful responsibility, work directly with senior bankers and clients, and gain extensive transaction exposure in a lean team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory transactions from origination through closing.
- Develop and oversee detailed financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction materials.
- Prepare client presentations, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and marketing materials.
- Conduct industry, market, and company-specific research to support ongoing engagements and business development initiatives.
- Manage due diligence processes and coordinate with clients, legal counsel, accountants, and other transaction participants.
- Mentor and oversee Analysts, providing guidance on modeling, research, and execution workstreams.
- Participate in client meetings, management presentations, and transaction negotiations.
- Support senior bankers in relationship management and business development efforts.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of investment banking experience
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capabilities.
- Experience executing M&A transactions and/or capital markets engagements.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership, maturity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record.
