Investment Banking Associate
We are partnered with a rapidly growing middle-market investment bank seeking to add an Associate to its M&A Generalist team in San Diego. This is an opportunity to join a lean, entrepreneurial platform with strong deal flow across a diverse range of industries as Generalist, but targeting Industrials/Manufacturing, Consumer, and Software.
The role offers direct exposure to senior bankers and clients, along with meaningful responsibility across all stages of the M&A process.
Key Responsibilities
- Support execution of sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions from pitch through close
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, including DCF, LBO, and comparable analyses
- Prepare client-facing materials, including pitch books, CIMs, and management presentations
- Conduct industry research and company analysis to support transaction positioning and origination efforts
- Manage key workstreams in the diligence process and coordinate with clients, investors, and third-party advisors
- Oversee and mentor Analysts, ensuring quality and accuracy of deliverables
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of Investment Banking experience, preferably with M&A transaction exposure
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skill set
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or CFA is a plus
