Infrastructure Debt Underwriter
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior VP / Executive Director to join our Infrastructure Debt Underwriting team, based in either London or Madrid. Sitting on the trading side, the successful candidate will play a critical role in originating, analysing, structuring, and underwriting infrastructure debt investments and back‑leverage solutions across a diverse range of real‑asset sectors.
The ideal candidate brings deep sector expertise, strong technical underwriting skills, and the ability to assess complex project risks, financing structures, and asset-level cash flows. This role works closely with trading, structuring, risk, and origination teams to support the firm's strategy of providing financing, underwrites, and leverage solutions to infrastructure developers, funds, and sponsors.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Transaction Execution
- Lead the underwriting of infrastructure debt transactions across sectors such as renewable energy, digital infrastructure, transportation, utilities, social infrastructure, and energy transition assets.
- Perform detailed project and credit analysis, including cash flow modelling, scenario testing, risk assessment, and asset-level due diligence.
- Evaluate project risks and mitigants, including construction, operational, counterparty, market, regulatory, and ESG-related risks.
- Support the structuring and execution of back-leverage facilities, including term loans, acquisition financing, holdco debt, and portfolio-level leverage.
- Present investment cases to internal committees and senior stakeholders, ensuring clear articulation of credit rationale and trading strategy.
Market & Sector Expertise
- Maintain strong understanding of sector fundamentals, financing trends, regulatory developments, and market dynamics affecting infrastructure assets.
- Track opportunities across Europe (and selectively global markets) with a focus on sponsor needs, new projects, and refinancing pipelines.
- Partner with origination to evaluate new investment opportunities and drive early-stage structuring discussions.
