HFT Quantitative Researcher - Role Summary (London)

I'm currently partnering with a leading global market‑making firm to support their search for a Quantitative Researcher based in London. This team develops, tests, and refines systematic trading models using advanced statistical and computational techniques, working with some of the most complex datasets in global markets.

They are looking for a researcher who thrives in fast‑paced, data‑driven environments and values integrity, continuous learning, and meritocracy.

Objectives & Responsibilities

* Conduct rigorous quantitative research and statistical analysis across global markets
* Work with large‑scale and unconventional datasets to identify, predict, and test statistical market patterns
* Develop valuation and alpha‑generation strategies, ensuring robustness and strong statistical foundations
* Translate mathematical models and algorithms into high‑quality production code
* Backtest, validate, and implement trading models and signals in a live trading environment
* Continuously refine research pipelines, improving model performance, data processing, and signal reliability

Skills & Preferred Qualifications

Academic & Technical Background

* Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative field
* Strong knowledge of probability & statistics (machine learning, time‑series analysis, pattern recognition, NLP)

Professional Experience

* ~1 year of buyside or hedge fund experience (quant research, trading, or similar data‑driven roles)
* Experience in a rigorous quantitative or data-driven research environment
* Ability to convert mathematical concepts into scalable, efficient code

Programming & Research Skills

* Strong programming skills in Python, R, MATLAB and/or C++
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving ability
* High attention to detail and strong validation habits

Soft Skills

* Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and logically
* Comfortable managing multiple tasks in a high‑performance environment
