Selby Jennings is representing a leading global multi-strategy hedge fund with more than $15bn in assets under management that is seeking to hire an Analyst Development Lead to join its New York office.
This is a unique opportunity to sit within one of the firm's flagship Equity Long/Short businesses, partnering directly with the Head of Equity L/S Research and a large centralized analyst team. The role is focused on helping investment analysts become more effective by leveraging data, behavioral insights, and performance analytics to identify development opportunities and drive continuous improvement across the research platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze data relating to analyst workflows, research processes, productivity metrics, and behavioral trends.
- Develop frameworks to evaluate how analysts conduct research, generate investment ideas, manage workflows, and interact with the broader investment team.
- Build and maintain dashboards that provide actionable insights into analyst performance and development opportunities.
- Translate complex quantitative analyses into clear, practical feedback for investment professionals.
- Deliver constructive coaching and developmental feedback directly to analysts and research teams.
- Partner with senior research leadership to identify best practices and drive higher standards across the platform.
- Monitor the effectiveness of development initiatives and continuously refine feedback methodologies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the research organization, helping create a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Candidate Profile
- Strong statistical, analytical, or data science background with the ability to work comfortably with large and complex datasets.
- Experience building dashboards and developing reporting frameworks that drive business decision-making.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to present findings and deliver developmental feedback to high-performing professionals.
- Ability to synthesize quantitative information into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Natural relationship builder who can influence stakeholders across varying levels of seniority.
- Prior experience within financial services, investment research, organizational development, talent analytics, behavioral analytics, management consulting, people analytics, or a related field is highly desirable.
