Junior Economist / Macro Research Analyst

Role Overview
A leading sovereign investment institution is seeking a Junior Economist / Macro Research Analyst to join its Hong Kong-based research team. The role focuses on macroeconomic analysis across Developed and Emerging Asia, with particular emphasis on rates and foreign exchange markets.
The successful candidate will support the formulation of forward-looking macro and market views and contribute directly to investment-relevant research, working closely with senior stakeholders and reporting directly to the Head of Research.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop macroeconomic and market outlooks for DM and EM Asia, with a focus on interest rates and FX
- Monitor and analyze regional economic data, central bank policy, and geopolitical developments
- Formulate trend perspectives on key market movements and translate macro views into actionable insights
- Produce high-quality research materials, including written reports and presentations for internal stakeholders
- Support senior researchers and contribute to broader cross-asset macro discussions
- Engage with internal investment teams to explain macro themes and market implications
Candidate Profile
- 1-5 years of relevant experience in macroeconomic or market research
- Background ideally from a government body, central bank, policy institution, or academic environment
- Candidates from sell-side or buy-side research teams are also welcome
- Strong understanding of macroeconomics, monetary policy, and financial markets
- Demonstrated interest in Asian macro trends, rates, and FX markets
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field
- Fluent in English and Chinese (written and spoken)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
