The Role
The Director of FP&A will act as a central figure within the finance function, driving planning, analysis, and decision support across the business. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and capital management, with regular interaction at the executive level.
You will play a critical role in enhancing financial visibility, guiding growth decisions, and building scalable processes to support continued expansion.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Decision Support
- Work closely with senior leadership to inform business strategy through financial insight and modeling
- Assess new initiatives, market expansion opportunities, and product economics
- Support evaluation of partnerships, investments, and corporate development activity
Forecasting, Budgeting & Analysis
- Lead enterprise-wide planning cycles, including annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Monitor financial performance, identifying key drivers of variance and areas for optimization
- Build robust frameworks for tracking operating and financial KPIs
Capital Strategy & Portfolio Analytics
- Partner with treasury and capital markets teams on funding strategy and capital deployment
- Analyze portfolio performance, unit economics, and return metrics within a lending context
- Support liquidity planning and balance sheet efficiency initiatives
Executive & Investor Communication
- Prepare materials for senior leadership, board discussions, and external stakeholders
- Present clear, data-driven narratives around financial performance and outlook
- Elevate the quality and consistency of reporting across the organization
Risk & Performance Discipline
- Help embed financial rigor into decision-making processes across the business
- Identify macro and business-specific risks and develop mitigation frameworks
Team Development & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing FP&A team over time
- Collaborate closely with accounting, risk, product, and commercial functions
- Drive alignment between financial planning and operational execution
Special Initiatives
- Lead high-impact projects such as systems upgrades, process optimization, and strategic analyses
- Support financing transactions and diligence processes as needed
Profile & Experience Requirements
- 7-10+ years of experience across investment banking, corporate finance, FP&A, or strategic finance
- Strong preference for candidates with current or prior investment banking experience, particularly within:
- Financial institutions groups (FIG)
- Specialty finance / fintech coverage
- Structured finance, credit, or capital markets
- Experience within a lending business, fintech platform, or credit-oriented model is highly advantageous
- Strong technical grounding in financial statements, capital structures, and transaction analysis
- Advanced financial modeling capability, with experience building complex and dynamic models
- Track record of supporting senior stakeholders in fast-paced, high-growth settings
- Ability to operate both strategically and at a detailed, executional level
- Prior experience working on debt raises, securitizations, or structured financing is a plus
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFA, or CPA beneficial
